PIND and Agbami Parties Partners with EGCDF, Visits Community Sites for Aquaculture Project

The Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) and its Agbami Parties Partners visited some of EGCDF communities to inspect proposed sites for the establishment of aquaculture projects in the communities. The event which took place between 8th and 10th of September 2020 witnessed the inspection of proposed sites at ogbinbiri, Azama and BeniKrukru communities in Egbema and Gbaramatu kingdoms respectively. The essence of the visit was to enable the team carry out an assessment of the selected sites to ascertain the viability of the areas for the proposed fish farming business in the communities.

It was an opportunity for the team members to have a firsthand information about market accessibility and feeds, appropriate drainage channels and conducive environment for the fish farming to thrive. Speaking to community members in each of the communities, the team commended them for donating the land for the proposed projects. Maintaining that the project will have maximum benefit in the communities as it will increase the economy through employment and income generation when operational, the team enjoined communities to ensure proper utilization and security of the project.

The final decision would be taken on the proposed sites upon submission of findings to the management of PIND and other stakeholders.

Responding on behalf of the communities’ Chairmen and PROs lauded the effort of PIND, partners and EGCDF for the initiative and requested an early kick off of the project while assuring them of maximum security. They added that the project will empower community youths/women in the process, especially those who have previously been trained on fish farming.
